1. What do I see in the future in regards to technology and educational technology?
A: One of my friends said computer and tech are definitely the trend. I agree with this
point of view that technology plays an very important role for modern life and is going
to take more and more part in our daily life. Technology for education is also a growing
field for today’s research. Making good use of educational technology to reach the
goal of any lesson or subject will be an important skill to assist teachers’ teaching now
and in the future.
2. If you were granted $20,000 to use in your school for educational technology, how
would you use it?
A: Recently my principle is planning to set up 2 room particularly for individually using
computer and internet. She needs 60 brand-new computers, internet sets, one
projector, etc. This $20,000 might help a lot.
3. How would you use a portfolio (think about grants, raises, changes in position, like the
A: building techie, etc?
As portfolio is an organized collection of artifacts or individual, tangible products that
verify a teacher’s professional growth, I think both paper portfolio and e-portfolio
are very important for us. I collected all the certificates I got, awards, lessons plan
of each presentation I have done, biography, worksheets and pictures of any
activities. I arranged these materials as a portfolio to describe my teaching life,
especially paper portfolio. My school haven’t check our portfolio, but there is a
competition in our county. If someday I want to change my school or my position, it
might help a lot.
4. What would you or have you included in a portfolio -- think back to the one you needed to create for Undergrad and/or to get your current job (this can be paper or electronic or a combo)
A: As I mentioned above, I collected all the certificates I got, awards, lessons plan
of each presentation I have done, biography, worksheets and pictures of any
activities. I arranged these materials as a portfolio to describe what I have.
I used it to get my job-a teacher when I just graduated from a teacher’s college.

My question. How do you think?(老師叫我po的)
Well, every one,
Up to this time, teaching through some softwares or computer seems trendy, teachers in Taiwan see showing our computer skill in our teaching presentation as very important part, but in my viewpoint, sometimes it might not be suitable for every student with different learning style. For example, some students learn efficiently through moving their body, so just seeing the slide or sitting before a computer might not address them. My question in this week is “when people nowadays think teaching through projector, computer or other technological devices as a trend, will traditional person to person teaching be replaced in the future?”

How do I use MultiMedia?
1. How do I use MultiMedia in my classroom?
A:MultiMedia is very useful to me. Because I am a language teacher, sounds or voice play an important role in steps of my teaching. In the past, I use Audio quite often to present the pronunciation and the tongue of English. Now I integrate Powerpoint in my class. Students see their workbook page on the slide, and listen to the words, sentences, or little essay to finish the listening comprehension. Also,Through some file, which not only present the sound, but also show lyrics sentence by sentence, word by word, they learn English songs. They can also know many English stories, via colorful pictures or fantastic little films on the slides. Powerpoint and Desktop are very useful tools in my language teaching.
2. How do I want to use Multimedia in my classroom?
A: In order to enrich my teaching, first, I want to get familiar with some softwares, such as flash, movie maker, and absolutely power point. Besides traditional lecture, I can take some class time to bring them some practice or drill instead a dull repetition. For example, some short stories use repetitive sentence structure. If I show the story with combination of colorful pictures, funny photos, and correct pronunciation, this kind of drill appeals to students and offers visual and audio stimulation at the same time.
3. How do I use a digital camera/scanner or other Multimedia devices in the classroom?
A: I use digital camera quite often. Usually, I collect information, data,
pictures, and photos from sketch books, workshops, trips or something in my daily life by digital camera. Then I see these pictures as materials in my teaching. Take my American trip for example, recently I posted a picture of my greenfield village trip with an essay in my Taiwan blog, after I go back to Taiwan, I will introduce the picture to my students and introduce some sentence structures at the same time.

DataBase and SpreadSheet to me
1. How do I use Database?
Q: After the Database lesson, I have gotten an new tool that I can use to save the information about my students, my friends, doctors, and people I need to contact with. I can memorize their data easily and arrange them properly. Even When I need to deal with some files or letters, I can combine it into other softwares. Database is a useful tool, especially when I need to arrange a lot of data.
I might also use it to record students’ performance or score in every subject, so that preparing the report card in the end of the semester would be easier for me.
2. How do your students use Database?
Q: Actually, my students who are third and forth graders may not use Database in their ages because they probably don’t have so much data to arrange. If it is possible, I think they can use it to record the homework, due days, teachers, tests for each subject.
3. What else would you like to do with DB - think in terms of student tools/assessment as well as teacher productivity?
Q: In social studies, when they have this assignment that doing a survey of each family in particular area, such as the members, ages, the number of children, the financial amount, and more, DB can be a good tool for my elder students.
4. How do you use Spreadsheets?
Q: Usually, I use Spreadsheets to calculate the scores for my students after each mid-term exam and final exam. We also need to calculate several scores according to their class performance, assignments, oral tests, and more. There are so many numbers I need to sum, average …etc. Using calculating machine is too slow and easy to make mistakes. As a result, I can’t work without Spreadsheets.
5. How do your students use Spreadsheets?
Q: As a matter of fact, I can hardly think about that my young students use
Spreadsheets to do anything, because most of them just learn how to use the
traditional calculating machine at the third grade. However, the step of using Spreadsheets might be easier for them. Maybe they can use Spreadsheets to calculate their pin money.
6. What else would you like to do with SS - think in terms of student tools/assessment as well as teacher productivity?
Q: For my elder students, in social studies, they might have a assignment: to calculate
the population or the economy number of the cities, counties, and towns.
Sometimes numbers stand for important events or conditions, in this type of learning process, SS play an important role.

Word Processing Software to me
1. How do I use Word Processing Software?
A: Actually, I use Microsoft word quite often. I prepare the lesson plans, create work sheets,
and set the exam papers via Microsoft word. In the end of the semester, I use Microsoft Excel
to calculate the scores for my students. Besides, sometimes when doing some presentation I
use very simple skills of Powerpoint.
2. How do my students use Word Processors?
A: Not many of my students interact with me by Word Processors. Some of them
finish their homework by using Microsoft, but most of them do their homework by
hand writing. A number of them have their own blogs. Also, some of them create
thanks cards and give it to me with some softwares and through internet.
3. What else would I like to do with WP - think in terms of student tools/
assessment as well as teacher productivity?
A: I think learning through the blog is a good idea. As a individual journal,
Students record what they learn, what they think, how they feel, what their
reflections are, and more, in blogs. They can even practice their writing, discuss
and exchange ideas in the special place.
